Normal sizing for skates is typically between 1 to 1-1/2 sizes smaller than a shoe size.
In a sitting position, the player should put the skate on and kick the heel back at an angle. Then lace up the 1st 3 sets of eyelets at the toe and kick the heel back again. Then lace up the next 3 sets of eyelets. Continue like this until skate is fully laced.
Upon standing, perfect adult fitting should have the toes just barely feathering the front of the toe cap. Junior sizing should be a little more generous to provide some room to grow. A 1/3" represents a half size and usually provides approx. 6 months of growth.
